Alkaline reflux gastritis has been formed in 20 dogs. 10 of them received 200 mgikg1day sucralfate for 60 days and the others formed control group. We performed total gastrectomy to alt dogs after 2 months and gastrit mucosal lesion score, histopatho-logic results, degree of gastritis, mast cell concentra-don, gastrit pll, and thickness of antral and pyloric mucosa were evaluated. Comparisons of the results were made with Student's t-test. We concluded that alkaline reflux gastritis score was decreased in sucralfate group.

İn this article, CT features of 21 cases with be-nign and 21 cases with malignant pleural diseases were described. Features that are helpful in distinc-tion malignant from bening pleural disease were, mediastinal pleural invasion, nodular and more than 1 cm tickening in pleura. The specıficities of these findings were 77%, 93%, 100% and sen,.sitivities 50%, 50%, 33%, respectively. High contrast en-hancement that does not show significant differenpe was detected in all malignant lesions and benign in-fectious pleural diseases. Consequently, it has been emphasized that CT is a useful radiologic method in detertnining of pleural lesions and, their extentions and, in the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant conditions.

Epilepsy is one of the oldest known diseases in human history. Hippocrates described the epileptic seizure in detail and stated its relevance to heredity. Throughout the Middle Ages, epilepsy and superstitions were mixed together, it was accepted as a disease of the devil, and patients with saree were excluded from the community. Even today, in many societies, the public is afraid and afraid of epileptic patients. However, there are also epileptics in history who have ruled the state or achieved fame in science and art; Alexander the Great, Julies Caesar, Pctro the Great, Socrates, Pascal, Dostoevsky, Flaubert.

We have studied the effects of Etomidate on ECG and effects on serum electrolyte levels_ Disrytrnia have not been noticed on ECG and there were not significant changings in serum electrolyte levels prior to the anesthesia or at the 15th. ıninute onset of the anesthesia. These results show that Etomidate have no side effect on CVS and serum electrolyte levels, there for it can be used safely in cardiac patient and canditions which elevated serum K+ levels.

35 rats were divided in 3 groups and resection of 80% the small bowel was performed. First group received 1 mglkgid of famotidine and second group 0.5 mglkgld omeprazole in water and third group re-ceived only tap water. Oral feeding with standart rat food initiated on first postoperative day. The weight and stool consistency were examined everyday. On 15th postoperative day alt rats were sacnfied and liv-er, stomach and ileum biopsies and blood samples for biochemical investigation were obtained. The weight and length of villi, depth of Lieberkühn crypts and the number of villi in 0.43 square mm were compared. Despite the ellect of reducing intestinal pH by blockading gastric acide secretion of famotidine and omeprazole, intestinal adaptation was not influenced in this way or direct ellect to the villi. We esta-blished that adaptation occured not by hypertrophy bul hyperplasia and provided by oral intake in early postoperative period.

Hepatic hydatid cyst perforation into the biliary tree may involve the small intrahepatic bile dutcs, common hepatic duct or common bile dutc. On sonogram, dilatation of intra and extrahepatic biliary tract was demonstrawd in two cases with jaıındice that is a compiication of hydatid cyst. Ultra-sonography (US) and percutaneus transhepatic cho-langiography (PTC) showed that hydatid cyst foud at porta hepatis causes to compression to the extra-hepatic biliary tract in one case. Ultrasonography (US) and computed tomography (CT) disclosed that cystic mass localized in medial segment of the left liver lobe and porta hepatis caus-es to the same finding as well as in one case. Preop-erative radiologicfindings vere confirmed surgically in 4 cases.

As to the histopathologir findings of liver le-sions and cholangitis and radiological findings of sclerosing cholangitis, there was no significant dif-ference between scolocidal solutions groups (p>0.05) but the dillerence between scolocidal solutions and control group was significant (p<0.01). In conclusion, fine needle aspiration biopsy is reliable in nodular thyroid disease and should be performed to provide unnecessary thyroidectomies in patients with benign thyroid disease.

Urine specimens fromtotally 228 adult patients (146 worrıen, 82 men) suffering from urinary tract infection were examined for Mycoplasma Species. Ureaplasma urealyticum was found in 22 of males (27.5%) and 43 of females (29.6%). Myco-plasma hominis was found in 6 of males (7.5 %) and 17 of ferriales (11.7 %). Both of the microorganisms were detected in one male ( 1.25%) and 7 females (4.8%) only. Results were compared with those of the controls. In approach to a patient whose urine culture negative, and with urethritis resistant to penicillin therapy a Mycoplasrna infection must be concerned.

Because öf the necessity of extracorporeal circulation in openheart operations, the patients blood is contacted with the foreign surfaces of oxygenator and iubbing sets. This causes coagulation of blood_ For this reason, before extracorporeal circulation the patients is hepar inised. in hepariniza-tion without checking, more heparine and to neuiralized it, more prolamirze is used. In extra corporeal circulation ta ascertain optimal heparine dose and protamine dillerent tesis are used. ACT is the most used rest between thern (1). In this study, we try ta stress that ACT is on.
İn this study, we have determined plasma copper, zinc and magnesium levels and intraerythrocy-tic copper and zinc levels of 143 (57 women, 86 men) healty subjects aged between 30-79 years. Plasma copper, zinc and magnesium levels of women were found as 128,6 ± 27,6 ugldl, 106,5 ± 21,5 ugldl and 2,31 ± 0,16 ingldl, white those of men were found as 110,6 ± 29,7 ugldl, 94,6 ± 19,7 ug1d1 and 2,35 ± 0,2 mgldl respectively. Intraerythrocytic copper and zinc levels of women were 129,7±32,5 and 1237 ± 214,2 ugldl, those of men were 114,0 ± 2 and 1366 ± 175 ugldl respectively Our resulis are discussed with those of literature.

Possible mass forrning lesions revealed by intraveneous urography (IVU) At The Department of Urology, Faculty of Medicine, Selçuk University from 1986 ta 1989, studied further. The suspected lesions were then eveluated by diagnostic ultrosonography, selective renal angiography and addilion-al computerized tomography for 6 of 10 patients. The true of massive lesions by uhrasonography and renal angiography were verıfication 90% and this was 83% for computerized tomography.
